BORIS JOHNSON triumphed in the Tory leadership contest and was crowned next Conservative leader by an overwhelming majority of party members.

The former Foreign Secretary has won the Tory leadership contest after six weeks of hustings, intense scrutiny and head-to-head debates. A total of 160,000 Conservative members were allowed to cast their ballot and decide who should replace as leader of the party and the country. The result was announced just after 12pm at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in central London following a brief speech by the chairman of the , Brandon Lewis MP.

Dame Cheryl Gillan MP, co-chair of the powerful 1922 Committee, announced the results, saying Mr Hunt gained 46,656 votes against Mr Johnson, who obtained 92,153 votes.

The election's turnout was of 87.4 percent and 509 rejected ballot papers were counted.

The Brexiteer is now expected to meet the Queen tomorrow, after Mrs May’s last PMQs at noon and her meeting with the monarch, during which she will resign and put forward Mr Johnson's name as her successor.

Later in the afternoon, Mr Johnson will likely make a statement in Downing Street before stepping into No10 for the first time as Prime Minister, achieving his life-long dream.

During his victory speech, the former Foreign Secretary thanked Mrs May for her "extraordinary service" to the country and the party.

He then repeated his campaign mantra, saying he will work to "delive Brexit, unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn".

He continued: "I know some wag who has already pointed out that deliver, unite and defeat was not the perfect acronym for an election campaign since unfortunately it spells dud.PROMOTED STORY

"But they forgot the final E my friends, E for energise. And I say to all the doubters, 'Dude we are going to energise the country, we are going to get Brexit done on October 31, we are going to take advantage of all the opportunities that it will bring in a new spirit of can do'.

"And we are once again going to believe in ourselves and what we can achieve and like some slumbering giant we are going to rise and ping off the guy ropes of self-doubt and negativity."

Mr Hunt, who lost the race against Mr Johnson, said: "Congratulations Boris Johnson for a campaign well fought.

"You'll be a great Prime Minister for our country at this critical moment!

"Throughout campaign, you showed optimism, energy and unbounded confidence in our wonderful country and we need that. All best wishes from the entrepreneur."

Mrs May also congratulated to Mr Johnson for his triumph and pledged to support him from the back benches.

She wrote on Twitter: "Many congratulations to Boris Johnson on being elected leader of Conservatives - we now need to work together to deliver a Brexit that works for the whole UK and to keep Jeremy Corbyn out of Government.

"You will have my full support from the back benches."

Other party leaders have commented on the victory of Mr Johnson.

, leader of the Brexit Party, said: "I wish Boris Johnson well as Prime Minister with his 'do or die' pledge to deliver Brexit on October 31.

"It is 'do or die' not just for Brexit, but for the future of the Conservative Party too. Does he have the courage to deliver for the country?"

Labour leader called for a general election, saying the next Prime Minister has been decided only by a handful of British voters.

He wrote on Twitter: "Boris Johnson has won the support of fewer than 100,000 unrepresentative Conservative Party members by promising tax cuts for the richest, presenting himself as the bankers' friend, and pushing for a damaging no deal Brexit. But he hasn't won the support of our country.

"Johnson's no deal Brexit would mean job cuts, higher prices in the shops, and risk our NHS being sold off to US corporations in a sweetheart deal with Donald Trump.

"The people of our country should decide who becomes the Prime Minister in a General Election."

Scotland's First Minister said to have "profound concerns" about Mr Johnson as a leader.

She said: "I congratulate Boris Johnson on his election as Tory leader and I will do everything possible to ensure that he respects Scotland's views and interests.

"However, I have profound concerns about the prospect of his premiership and it would be hypocritical not to be frank about these.

"These are concerns that I am certain will be shared by the vast majority of people in Scotland who, had they been given any say, would not have chosen to hand the keys of Number 10 to someone with his views and track record."

Similarly, the Patrick Harvie, the co-convener of the pro-independence Scottish Green Party, claimed Scottish people would have not voted for Mr Johnson as Prime Minister if they had been given the choice.

He wrote on Twitter: "The people of Scotland didn't vote for Brexit, we didn't vote for a Tory government and I'm certain that given the choice we wouldn't have voted for Boris Johnson either.

"Scotland needs a route out of Boris' Brexit Britain, and while we already have a firm mandate to hold a referendum, Johnson's elevation to the office of Prime Minister on the back of bluff and bluster is hugely concerning and reinforces the need to hold this vote urgently.

"Brexit is already having a hugely detrimental impact with EU citizens in particular feeling under attack as rhetoric from the likes of Johnson and co has been relentless over the last three years.

"In the face of this utter shambles it has never been more important that Scotland retakes our place as an independent European nation"

The first European leader to react to Mr Johnson's election has been Michel Barnier - who suggested Brussels will only rework the already agreed political declaration and isn't willing to reopen Brexit talks.

The EU's chief negotiator tweeted: "We look forward to working constructively with PM @BorisJohnson when he takes office, to facilitate the ratification of the withdrawal agreement and achieve an orderly Brexit. We are ready also to rework the agreed declaration on a new partnership in line with EUCO guidelines."

Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament's chief Brexit co-ordinator, didn't congratulate Mr Johnson on his victory, but said his group will immediately start to look into how to "defend the interests of all Europeans".

He tweeted: "The @europarl's Brexit Steering Group will hold an extraordinary meeting tomorrow with @MichelBarnier to respond to @BorisJohnson's election.

"The meeting will be followed by an official communication. Looking forward to defending the interest of all Europeans. #Brexit"

He wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations to Boris Johnson on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He will be great!"

The business world has also reacted to Mr Johnson's election, with CBI director-general Dame Carolyn Fairbairn telling Mr Johnson he has "no time to waste" in his first 100 days as Prime Minister.

She said: "Many congratulations to Boris Johnson. British business shares your optimism for the UK. Let's work together to get our economy back on track and working for communities everywhere.

"Business needs three things in the first 100 days: A Brexit deal that unlocks confidence; clear signals the UK is open for business; and a truly pro-enterprise vision for our country.

"On Brexit, the new Prime Minister must not underestimate the benefits of a good deal.

"It will unlock new investment and confidence in factories and boardrooms across the country. Business will back you across Europe to help get there.

"Early signals back home also matter. From a new immigration system to green-lighting major infrastructure, there is no time to waste."

Mr Johnson has been the frontrunner of the contest since its beginning.

But the prospect of his premiership hasn’t been welcomed unanimously within Mrs May’s Cabinet.

Yesterday, Sir Alan Duncan, the Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, resigned saying he could not serve under Mr Johnson.

And, just minutes before the result was announced, Anne Milton resigned as Education Minister.

Hitting out at Mr Johnson’s “do or die” Brexit policy, Ms Milton said upon quitting she had "grave concerns about leaving the EU without a deal".

The election of Mr Johnson has also been met with a protest staged in Westminster, with People's Vote campaigners holding a "Let Us Be Heard" rally to demand the new leader a referendum on his Brexit plan, chanting: "Hey, hey Boris J give us the People's Vote today"

Britisk næringsliv deler din optimisme for Storbritannia.

Forretninger vil støtte deg over hele Europa for å hjelpe deg dit.

The bottom line is for the people to regain their original, moral principles, which have intentionally been watered out over the past generations by our press, TV, and other media owned by the Illuminati/Bilderberger Group, corrupting our morals by making misbehavior acceptable to our society. Only in this way shall we conquer this oncoming wave of evil.
