A Pennsylvania doctor who was accused of prescribing Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 was fired this week, reports the New York Times.

The doctor, Edith Behr, worked for Tower Health, a regional health system consisting of several hospitals. She is a licensed doctor and surgeon, the newspaper reports.

- We investigated the case and as a result, Dr. Behr's working relationship with Tower Health Medical Group is terminated with immediate effect, the health system writes in a statement on Friday.

Behr must not have met the conditions for the use of medication in any other way than they are officially approved for, including checking the patients' medical history.

US health authorities have advised against the use of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19, despite the fact that the drug has both a preventive and as a treatment against Covid-19, has hardly any side effects and has been given in 3.7 billion doses since the 1970s.
