Boris Johnson in crushing no deal Brexit vote defeat - snap general election imminent

BORIS JOHNSON has suffered a crushing defeat after rebels voted in favour of a motion designed to block a no deal Brexit, leaving the Prime Minister’s plans in tatters and making it almost certain he will call a general election for October 14.

The Government was defeated by a margin of 328 to 301 votes - a majority of 27 - in what was a major victory by Remain rebels over the under-pressure Government. Those MPs will now take control of parliamentary business tomorrow and attempt to pass legislation which would prevent a no deal Brexit on October 31. Mr Johnson said he would now bring forward a motion for an early general election.

Boris Johnson could now have to return to Brussels and ask the European Union to delay Brexit until January 31, 2020 if no agreement has been reached and MPs have not approved a no deal withdrawal.

The humiliating defeat is a huge blow for Mr Johnson, who may now likely call a snap general election to take place in six weeks time - despite being Prime Minister for less than two months.

Following tonight's vote, the Prime Minister told the House of Commons: "This means Parliament is on the brink of wrecking any deal we might be able to strike because tomorrow’s Bill will hand control to the EU.PROMOTED STORY

"That would mean more dither, more delay and more confusion.

"It would mean the EU would themselves be able to decide how long to keep this country in the EU.

"Since i refused to go along with that plan, we are going to have to make a choice.

"I don’t want an election, the public don’t want an election, and I don’t believe the Right Honourable Gentleman wants an election but if the House votes for this Bill tomorrow, the public will have to choose who goes to Brussels on October 17 to sort this out and take this country forward."

Mr Johnson also launched a scathing attack against Jeremy Corbyn, raging if the Labour leader is the Prime Minister, he would accept whatever demands the EU puts to him.

He added: "If the Right Honourable Gentleman is the Prime Minister, he will go to Brussels and beg for an extension.

"The leader of the opposition has been begging for an election for two years.

"I don’t want an election but if MPs vote tomorrow to stop negotiations and to compel another pointless delay to Brexit, then that would be the only way to resolve this."

Conservative Party MPs voting against the Prime Minister had been warned they would lose the whip and would not be able to stand as a Conservative in the next general election.

It has been a disastrous week for the Prime Minister, after his announcement he would be suspending Parliament for five weeks left ministers across Westminster furious.

This led to MPs forming a cross-party alliance in the House of Commons with the Bill, introduced by veteran MP Hillary Benn and signed by several Remainers including Philip Hammond, David Gauke and Nick Boles.

Earlier today, House of Commons Speaker John Bercow handed control to Remain rebels to seize control of parliamentary business, in what was the latest blow to Mr Johnson.

The Prime Minister had held one-to-one meetings with Tory rebels in a desperate attempt to persuade them not to go through with their bid to block his Brexit plan.

But the meetings with the group nicknamed the ‘Rebel Alliance’ have ultimately failed to persuade them not to side with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

But Mr Johnson also suffered a huge blow just hours before tonight’s crunch vote after losing his working majority in the House of Commons.

As the Prime Minister addressed the House before what was to escalate into a fiery affair with Labour leader Mr Corbyn and Remainer rebels, Tory MP Phillip Lee crossed the floor and defected to the Liberal Democrats.

In his resignation letter to Mr Johnson, Mr Lee lashed out at the party and the Government specifically for it “aggressively pursuing a damaging Brexit in unprincipled ways”.

During his speech in the Commons, Mr Johnson had told MPs tonight’s legislation aimed at blocking a no deal Brexit would “force me to go to Brussels and beg an for extension” and “destroy any chance” of negotiating an agreement.

He also faced shouts of “resign” and was challenged by former Chancellor Philip Hammond to publish the UK’s new Brexit proposals.

Mr Corbyn also questioned if Britain has put forward any new proposals in relation to the troublesome Irish backstop before warning the “reckless Government only has one plan - to crash out of the EU without a deal”.

The Labour leader also accused the Government hiding from scrutiny and the British people by failing to publish its no deal preparations.

Mr Johnson had urged MPs to give him “the leeway” to secure a new deal and claimed he does not want a general election.

He also said his Government would “obey the law” when pressed by opposition MPs, amid concerns over how he will respond to any legislation which blocks a no deal Brexit.

WHO and WHAT is behind it all ? : >

The bottom line is for the people to regain their original, moral principles, which have intentionally been watered out over the past generations by our press, TV, and other media owned by the Illuminati/Bilderberger Group, corrupting our morals by making misbehavior acceptable to our society. Only in this way shall we conquer this oncoming wave of evil.
