Weather maps have turned deep red across huge parts of England, with temperatures soaring to 32C and 22 counties set to breach the 30C mark. The latest WXCharts maps show the most intense heat focused on eastern, central and south-eastern England on June 16, with widespread areas displaying temperatures in the low 30s.
Large areas are covered in deep red shades, indicating temperatures in the low 30s. The highest values are concentrated across East Anglia, the Home Counties and parts of the Midlands. Several locations are shown reaching 31C, while some areas peak at a scorching 32C. The maps come after the UK recorded its hottest May day on record last month, when temperatures soared to 33.5C at Heathrow on May 25. The scorching conditions also made it the hottest bank holiday Monday ever recorded.
The latest charts mark a sharp change from the start of June, which brought heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty conditions to parts of England, Wales and Scotland. Earlier this week, the Met Office highlighted several regions facing downpours and thunder as low pressure dominated the UK's weather pattern.

Separate WXCharts anomaly maps also show temperatures running above the seasonal average across much of England, with the warmest conditions focused on eastern parts of the country.
