NORWEGIAN PRIME MINISTER STøRE REFUSES TO SET UP AN INVESTIGATIVE COMITEE

By FRP Sylvi Listhaug - 05 February 2026

Do you have something to hide? What are you afraid of?

I think it is remarkable that the Prime Minister believes that an independent investigative committee is not necessary to get to the bottom of the serious and very worrying information that has emerged over a long period of time about conditions in the Norwegian Foreign Service. The American Epstein documents have given us insight into a world that cannot stand the light of day, where former Labour Party and Conservative politicians are involved. Everyone is now questioning whether this is part of a larger culture of corruption.

Yesterday, the Progress Party sent Prime Minister Støre a question about whether the government will set up an independent investigation to get everyone's cards on the table. Tonight, Prime Minister Støre replied that he believes it is not appropriate. FrP believes that the Storting should take responsibility for creating a mandate and setting up an investigative committee. This is about trust in democracy, the Foreign Service and politicians. This gives reason to ask many more questions about the ties that Norwegian politicians and employees in the Norwegian Foreign Service have to an international elite that appears very distant from ordinary people, and who also seem to lack respect for the people's money.

Norway has spent enormous amounts of money on development aid, and there are constant revelations about serious examples of what the money has been used for and what effect it has.The Progress Party will take the lead and work for the Storting to take responsibility for getting to the bottom of whether there are structural conditions that indicate a lack of culture. This is about restoring trust and getting to the bottom of what has happened in the Foreign Service. We will have an independent investigation ink place, because we believe it is right for people to know the truth.

What do you think?

Here’s a clear and faithful English translation of your text:

There is not the slightest control over what Norwegian taxpayers’ money is spent on. The money is thrown away left and right by foreign ministers, climate ministers, and prime ministers from the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. How can it be defended that a guy like Rød-Larsen, who maintained contact with Epstein for years, has a foundation that has been awarded as much as 130 million Norwegian kroner via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? How does it serve Norwegian interests that a former Labour Party cabinet minister travels around New York and other places, living in luxury and extravagance on Norwegian taxpayers’ money???? What does Norway gain from this?

Why does this happen so often, without any consequences for anyone??? The 600 million kroner given to the Clinton Foundation some years back is another chapter of shame! Even tens of millions from Norway were not enough for Rød-Larsen; on top of that, he had to borrow money from Epstein. The entanglement here is grotesque. What the money has been spent on should be thoroughly investigated, and the money should be demanded back.

Jagland and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are, if possible, even worse. How much lack of understanding of one’s role is it possible to have? I have no words for how thoughtless these two are! It’s time to significantly cut back on the use of Norwegian taxpayers’ money abroad and gain control over what the money is spent on, whether it concerns members of the government, official Norway, or the royal family!
