BREAKING: Tennis legend Martina Navratilova films a powerful PSA speaking out on how important it is to resist Trump’s tyranny and not give in to fear!

In a short PSA(?) for George Conway’s Home of the Brave PAC, Navratilova details her struggles growing up under a dictatorship and reminding us all of how important it is that we fight to keep that from happening here.

“Hi, I'm Martina Navratilova. I used to play tennis pretty well. Grew up in a communist country, Czechoslovakia. So I know what it looks like and feels like to live in a totalitarian regime where you cannot speak your mind or worse yet put in prison for political opinions. So I left my country in 75, I was 18 years old. My goal in my life is to play as much as I can and I didn't get this chance while being under the Czech government. So I didn't see my family for five years. It was a one-way ticket and that was very scary.

So when I defected and I was able to say anything I wanted to, I did. I'm so proud to be an American, but I'm embarrassed for what Trump is doing to our country. I am pissed off as hell about people capitulating to Trump. Whether it's the legal firms, or schools, politicians, or companies.

We are too big to fail if we stand together, but divided we fall.

And that's what Trump is counting on. Chaos, fear.”“This was the freest country in the world when I defected in 1975. If this was the situation for me now, I would definitely not choose to live here. My fear is that people are just too complacent, too scared, and thinking that they don't matter. And we all matter.”“As a tennis player, you're used to fighting. You have to fight for every point. And it kind of gives you that backbone. I will not be quiet. Not speaking out, it equals resignation. And that's just not acceptable.

When you leave a totalitarian regime and then you come to a free-loving country, of course you have to speak up.”“Speaking out is the actual patriotic thing to do when you see something wrong. Don't be afraid. You can find ways to make a difference. Democracy is never finished, but by God we need to fix it. Keep protesting and pay attention!”

Her words have never been more important than they are right now. We are at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. If we never want our grandchildren to have ask their teachers “why didn’t anyone do anything to stop Trump,” then we as a collective need to do everything we can to fight back, organize, and resist at every step of the way.
