LULA`S TALK WITH TRUMP LIFTED MORAES SANCTIONS.
By Human Synthesis-12 December 2025
This Friday (the 12th), after nearly five months under sanctions imposed by the Global Magnitsky Act, Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes was officially removed from the OFAC list, the U.S. Treasury Department agency.
According to information from UOL, the lifting of the sanctions means the end of the restrictions that prevented him from traveling in U.S. territory, owning assets in the country, or carrying out financial transactions in U.S. dollars—measures that had also affected his wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes.
Moraes was sanctioned in July by the Donald Trump administration, under accusations of human rights violations related to his role in the proceedings that led to the conviction of Jair Bolsonaro. Decisions involving content published by users in the United States also influenced the action.
The case became the central point of the diplomatic crisis between Brazil and the United States. The removal of the sanctions comes after days of review in Washington, marked by efforts by the Lula administration to normalize bilateral relations.
