Gallup Poll: Only 32% of Americans Support Israel's Actions in Gaza. A new Gallup poll shows that only 32% of Americans support Israel's ongoing war in Gaza, which many describe as genocide.
This is a 10 percentage point drop since the September 2024 poll and the lowest level recorded since Gallup first asked the question in November 2023. The survey, conducted from July 7 to 21, also shows that 60% of Americans disapprove of Israel's actions in Gaza – an increase from 48% in September 2024.
The survey shows a clear political divide: Only 8% of Democrats and 25% of independent voters support Israel's actions in Gaza, while a full 71% of Republicans express support for Israel's campaign.
Gallup also asked Americans whether they supported Israel's recent military action against Iran. Only 38% said they approved of the action, while 54% opposed it. Only 12% of Democrats supported the attack on Iran, while 78% of Republicans gave their support.
The survey also found that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's popularity in the United States is at an all-time low: 52% of Americans have a negative impression of the Israeli leader. Only 29% said they have a positive view of Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his role in war crimes committed in Gaza.
The lack of American support for Israel's military campaign in Gaza comes at a time when the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory is worse than ever, with people starving to death on a large scale as a result of the US-backed Israeli siege.
