TRUMP WILL DEFINE DRUG CARTELS AS TERRORISM
By Norwegian anti-globalist group-Human Synthesis-25 Jan. 2025
President Trump will define the activities of the rich, powerful and deadly drug cartels as terrorism. This is of course done in order to strengthen and improve the authorities' capabilities in the fight against the very bloody and deadly activities of the drug cartels.
But the large echo chamber consisting of Trump haters and most of the Norwegian mass media will certainly try to spin this matter into something negative against President Trump. And for example, perhaps even that this is a terrible violation of the human rights of the poor people who run the drug cartels, and/or that this is an abuse of military means and methods against the civilian population. Because the imagination, delusions, aggressive herd mentality and hatred of the large echo chamber with Trumpphobia apparently know no bounds anymore.
ARE DRUG CARTELS TERRORISTS?
Øystein Nordfjeld also comments on the matter, brilliantly:
While the media is mostly concerned with hand gestures in a state of euphoria, I think it is more interesting to look at what political changes we can expect after the change of president in the United States.
Yesterday, the Washington Post had an interesting article about the presidential order that defines drug cartels as terrorists. If the definition holds up, it means that the new administration can use harsher means - under given conditions, also military force, against the cartels.
The idea is not new. Obama considered the same thing, and in the last couple of years there has been a process underway in Congress to clarify the options available in relation to international law, among other things.
The big question is whether drug trafficking can be classified as terrorism. The work of Congress actually includes a "Norwegian" study with Adriana Nordfjeld herself as the main author (link in the thread below). So here I have some first-hand knowledge.
"Terror" is generally defined as "the use of violence to achieve political or ideological goals".
The drug cartels use extreme violence and military equipment that often surpasses terrorist organizations. But can it be argued that the goals are of a political or ideological nature? Adriana and her co-authors argue that it is possible. The goal of the drug cartels is not only individual actions such as settling scores with rival groups, etc., but the violence and threats are also used to create fear in the population, secure territories (for production, etc.) and influence the politics/ideology where they operate.
On the Mexican side, this is so extreme in some places that, for example, unwanted candidates for governor positions are killed over a low shoe so that there is only one cartel-friendly candidate left. Through fear and violence, the cartels establish their own "countries within the country" where the citizens are terrorized and have to pay "taxes" to the cartels in addition to the regular tax. In other words, not entirely different from how the Taliban and other terrorist organizations operate.
The current Mexican government is against the "definition of terrorism". They fear for tourism and that the United States may decide to carry out military attacks inside Mexico. Among the population, however, the attitude is usually different. They want help to get rid of the cartels.
The US will face resistance to this from the Mexican side, but I would not be surprised if Congress and the Senate eventually follow up on the presidential order and pass legislative amendments that support it.
