On October 13, Russian military sources reported a new series of clashes with Kiev forces in the direction of Krasny Liman, South Donetsk, Kyiv, and Kupyansk

In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled five attacks by Kyiv forces in Torsky and the Serebryanskoye forestry

“In the Krasny Liman direction, battlegroup Center’s units, artillery, assault and army aviation aircraft thwarted and repelled five attacks of assault detachments of the AFU 63rd and 67th Mechanized Brigades and 5th National Guard Brigade in the Torsky area and the Serebryanskoye forestry,” the group’s chief spokesman Alexander Savchuk told TASS.

According to Savchuk, Kyiv forces lost 40 troops and a pickup truck. Around 15 artillery pieces were also suppressed by counter-battery fire.

The group’s TOS-1A heavy flamethrower systems also destroyed three strongholds of Kyiv forces. In addition, artillery strikes targeted a temporary deployment point of Ukrainian troops near the settlement of Zhelannoy.

In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces said in a press release that it had thwarted four attempts to rotate units of Kyiv forces close to Urozhaynoye and Staromayorskoye. Several vehicles were destroyed and a number of troops were neutralized.

The forces also eliminated a Ukrainian reconnaissance group to the west of Novodonetskoye and destroyed one ammunition depot close to Staromayorskoye.

Using Lancet loitering munitions, the group destroyed one American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer and one BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher near Elizavetovka, one D-20 towed howitzer close to Novoukrainka and one Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer close to Novoivanovka. A mortar was also targeted by a combat drone near Staromayorskoye.

The group’s aviation and artillery also targeted gatherings from the 79th Air Assault Brigade near Novomikhailovka, communication centers of the 72nd Mechanised Brigade close to Konstantinovka, Vodyanoye, and Ugledar as well as positions of the 128th Territorial Defence Brigade near Staromayorskoye and the 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade close to Urozhaynoye.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces announced that its fighter bombers had carried out five airstrikes against an ammunition depot and temporary deployment points of the 7th Separate Rifle Battalion, an armored gathering of the 43rd Mechanized Brigade and a stronghold of the 113th Territorial Defense Brigade near Novolyubovka, Peschany, and Petropavlovka.

The group’s TOS-1A heavy flamethrower systems also carried out three strikes on gatherings of manpower and equipment from the 32nd Mechanized Brigade in Timkovka.

In addition, the group’s artillery destroyed two Gvozdika and Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzers, one American-made M777 towed howitzer, and four mortars close to Novolubovka, Novosergeevka and Stepovaya Novoselovka.

“The total losses of the enemy amounted to more than two companies of manpower, one tank, one drone, one minibus and one pickup truck,” the group said in a press release.

In addition, Russian news sources shared videos of several recent air and artillery strikes that hit Ukrainian positions and equipment in different directions.

It’s worth noting that the Russian Ministry of Defense reportedly a Ukrainian attack with suicide drones on the regions of Bryansk and Belgorod late on October 12.

“An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by a fixed-wing drone was thwarted at around 10:00 p.m. [Moscow time] on October 12,” the ministry said in a statement. “Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were detected and destroyed by air defense systems over the territories of the Bryansk Region and the Belgorod Region.”

Ukraine launched its highly-touted counteroffensive more than four months ago. Kyiv forces sustained heavy losses in manpower and equipment while attempting to advance. However, they have yet to break through Russian defenses in any direction.
