“At night, [Russian air defense systems] thwarted the Kiev regime’s attempt to carry out a terrorist attack by two fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles at targets in the Russian Federation. “The emergency services are working on site. Governor Igor Rudenya has instructed regional agencies to provide them with all necessary assistance,” the press service added.

No casualties or material losses were reported in the Kaluga region, where the second Ukrainian suicide drone was shot down.

Meanwhile, in the special military operation zone, Kyiv forces shelled the Kirovsky district of Donetsk with cluster munitions six times over one hour, according to the Donetsk People’s Republic mission at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to Ukrainian War Crimes.

Kiev forces also shelled the Kuybyshevsky district from the direction of Galitsynovka, firing a total of 14 projectiles at the area.

More shelling was reported in Kherson, where Kyiv forces fired 32 projectiles at Novaya Kakhovka and nearby towns and villages.

“Overnight, the Kiev regime continued to shell civilian infrastructure in Novaya Kakhovka, Kakhovka, Kazachyi Lagerya, Golaya Pristan, having fired a total of 32 shells from tube artillery,” a representative from the regional emergency services told journalists.

The last wave of Ukrainian attacks came as Kyiv forces were struggling and suffering losses in the direction of Krasny Liman.

The Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled five ground attacks by Kyiv forces in this direction between September 15 and 16.

“In the Krasny Liman direction in the areas of the Torsky sector and Serebryansky forestry, coordinated actions of units of the battlegroup Center in cooperation with artillery, assault and army aviation thwarted and repelled five attacks by assault groups of the 63rd, 67th mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces and the 5th brigade National Guard of Ukraine. Enemy losses amounted to about 40 militants, an infantry fighting vehicle and an electronic warfare station were destroyed,” Alexander Savchuk, a spokesman for the group, told TASS.

The spokesman added that a drone control center of Kyiv forces was also destroyed by a high-precision Krasnopol projectile.

“During the counter-battery fight, up to 20 artillery crews were exposed and suppressed, and an enemy 120-mm mortar was hit,” Savchuk concluded.

The situation of Kyiv forces was not much better in other directions. Russian news sources shared video footage showing a failed Ukrainian attack near Urozhayne in the direction of South Donetsk and recent artillery strikes on Kyiv forces in Rabotino in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

Ukraine launched its counteroffensive nearly fifteen weeks ago after receiving massive military support from NATO and other allies. Kyiv forces made very few gains in a few directions despite sustaining heavy losses in manpower and equipment.
