However, the accession process itself will take longer, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said.
The delegations of Turkey, Sweden, and Finland, after a meeting in Madrid, signed an agreement that takes into account the requirements of Turkey in the field of security, and now Ankara is ready to support the entry of these countries into the alliance.
However, as NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday, the Madrid summit will only be an invitation, the process of entry will take time. Read also how the positions of Sweden and Finland have changed on the issue of joining NATO
“I am happy to announce that we now have an agreement that paves the way for Sweden and Finland to join NATO. They have signed a memorandum that addresses Turkey's concerns, including arms control and the fight against terrorism,” Stoltenberg said. In the light of the progress made, Turkey is ready to support the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO."
Stoltenberg specified that the meeting where the memorandum was signed was attended by Turkish and Finnish Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Sauli Niinistö, as well as Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. According to him, the leaders of the Nordic countries agreed to change the legislation in order to eliminate threats to Turkey's national security by banning the activities of the PKK and entering into an agreement with Ankara on the extradition of suspected terrorists.
"Finland and Sweden, of course, are ready to work with Turkey on <...> the extradition of terrorist suspects, but at the same time, extradition processes will take place in accordance with the European Convention on Extradition, in accordance with the rule of law, the legal system in these countries, "said the NATO Secretary-General.
"Tomorrow, the leaders of the alliance will decide to invite Finland and Sweden to become members. After this summit, they will become invited [countries], then the ratification process will begin in all the capitals [of the countries participating in the alliance], but I am absolutely confident in the tripartite memorandum on understanding, which was signed today," he said.
Stoltenberg specified that the accession protocol must be ratified by the parliaments of the countries participating in the alliance. If this stage is successfully completed, the documents will be handed over to the United States, the depositary of the 1949 Washington Treaty establishing NATO, and the process of Finland and Sweden joining NATO will be completed.
The situation in the Baltic region
The situation in the Baltic region will completely change after the inclusion of Finland and Sweden in NATO, Stoltenberg said.
"The accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO is important for these countries. Just look at the map and you will understand that they will change the whole situation in the Baltic region. They will cover the Baltic countries - Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia, and also allow us to strengthen our presence in this part of the world", - he said.

The President of Russia also noted that Moscow is not concerned about the possible entry of Helsinki and Stockholm into the alliance.

“We don’t have anything that could worry us from the point of view of Finland and Sweden’s membership in NATO. If they want [to join NATO], please. now, if military contingents and infrastructure are deployed there, we will have to respond in a mirror manner and create the same threats for the territories from which threats are created to us," the head of state said, answering journalists' questions.
"It's an obvious thing! Don't they understand it?" Putin expressed bewilderment. "Everything was good with us [with Finland and Sweden], but now there will be some tension, it's obvious, of course, it's impossible without it," he stressed.
The bottom line is for the people to regain their original, moral principles, which have intentionally been watered out over the past generations by our press, TV, and other media owned by the Illuminati/Bilderberger Group, corrupting our morals by making misbehavior acceptable to our society. Only in this way shall we conquer this oncoming wave of evil.
