The World Economic Forum's annual meeting (WEF) is taking place this week in Davos, and as usual, thousands of people from politics, business, and other social elites gather in the Swiss Alpine city during a large media campaign.
The backdrop for the Davos meeting this year is a series of life-threatening crises that are happening at the same time, WEF's founder Klaus Schwab said on Sunday in an interview with the German public broadcaster ZDF. Schwab mentioned, in particular, the Ukraine war, the world economy, a potential famine, and the "climate crisis".
The motto for the World Economic Forum 2022 is "History at a turning point", and in the interview, Schwab highlights why the role of the WEF is in his opinion as important as a global forum for cooperation right now.

To the ZDF, the WEF founder says that the world is in a "system crisis" where both business, politics, and civil society must contribute to "repairing the system".
It is wrong to work through "one crisis after another", Schwab believes. "We must act simultaneously." It is very difficult and a big challenge. "But if we do not do that, for example, if we wait to solve all the environmental problems, we will pay an even higher price for a solution later."
This challenges us all, says Schwab, who advocates a "holistic" approach and encourages everyone to change their lifestyle. We all have a responsibility, not least in the climate issue, he believes.
